We congratulate active community member, Dilnaz Billimoria on her recent Communities Council on Ethnic Issues Award for Excellence in Services to Multicultural Communities 2020. Dilnaz migrated from India to Australia with her young family two decades ago and calls Melbourne home. In her professional life, she works in the financial services industry. Her community and volunteering work is extensive and diverse. She is a board member of Women’s Health East; she has been actively involved with the prevention of Elder Abuse in partnership with Eastern Community Legal Centre (ECLC); is a founding/Committee member of Interfaith Networks in Whitehorse, Manningham, and Boroondara; member of the Women Interfaith Network, and member of Faith Communities Council of Victoria. Dilnaz is also a committee member of Communities Council On Ethnic Issues and the Migrant Settlement Committee. The Award was presented via zoom by Sonia Terpstra, MP in the Eastern Metropolitan Region, on behalf of the Honourable Ros Spence, Victorian Minister For Multicultural Affairs, at the Communities Council on Ethnic Issues AGM on Friday 20 November. Dilnaz is “deeply touched at this recognition of my grassroots volunteering among diverse Cultural and Faith groups, NFP organisations and diverse communities”.
