Session Overview

This interactive workshop will provide participants with a sound understanding of best practice volunteer management. Participants will be taken through each stage of the volunteer’s involvement, based on the “life cycle” model of volunteer management. The following areas will be covered: advertising and recruitment, induction, ongoing support, supervision and recognition, safety and risk management, through to the exit stage. Participants will use the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement to guide program development and best practice, helping them to build a vibrant, sustainable and inclusive volunteer program.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Know how to structure your volunteer program and identify necessary policies and procedures
  • Understand how to set the scene for effective volunteer involvement
  • Understand recruitment and retention in line with the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement
  • Identify strategies and processes to support best practice volunteer management

Intended Audience

The workshop is targeted at new or less experienced managers/coordinators of volunteers

All our training venues are accessible and have gender-neutral bathroom options.
