Kids are sweet enough: Harmful sugars in baby and toddler foods

All kids deserve the best start in life, with foods that provide them with the nutrients they need for the critical early stages of their development. But how do we achieve this when the food that’s marketed specifically for them contains ingredients harmful to their health?

Join us on 7 October as we explore the findings from CHOICE’s new research on what’s in commercial toddler foods, the impact these foods are having on the health of our youngest Australian’s and the changes we need to see.

• Dr Rosemary Stanton OAM, Public Health Nutritionist, Author and Editor

One of Australia’s leading nutritionists and author of many scientific papers, over 3500 articles on nutrition and 33 books, Rosemary has been advocating for better food for children in Australia for over 50 years.

• Andrea Schmidtke, Obesity Policy Coalition

A Legal Policy Advisor at the Obesity Policy Coalition, Andrea leads the Coalition’s work in the regulation of infant and toddler foods and their packaging.

• Jane Martin, Obesity Policy Coalition (Moderator)

Executive Manager of the Obesity Policy Coalition, Jane has extensive experience in public health advocacy and policy development. She was awarded a Deakin Honorary Doctorate for her contribution to public health advocacy in 2018 and the Public Health Association’s President’s Award in 2019 and is President of the Australia and New Zealand Obesity Society.
